Converting a lightbulb to an AC adapter that lets us power small appliances from our light socket. E27 to AC outlet adapters are commonly and cheaply available.Making one yourself is not recommended but could be useful in certain emergency situations. I would not advise trying to make one of these due to the risk of electric shock, fire, death, etc. I used an AC extension lead with the plug cut off and an old broken CFL bulb to make this adapter. It's worth noting that lighting circuits are usually not designed or expected to handle high current, so only small appliances should be used with these kind of adapters.
