Landlines have been disconnected in many places. Nostalgic feeling, recognizable shape and sound and very visible way of using them (actually picking up, dialing numbers) makes them still good props for theater, toys for kids and home decor for people collecting old things. I wanted to make this one actually do something, so I created a ringer circuit that turns the ringing off once someone "answers the phone". This could be used as a ringer for doorbell, alarm clock, kitchen timer or anything else one can imagine.
