Review 1989 presented by Jonathan Dimbleby, shown on BBC 1, Thursday 28th December 1989. Originally recorded on VHS, then transferred to DVD. NOTE: audio may go silent in some parts, due to YouTube copyright restrictions. Radio Times listing: "This year has been a year of momentous changes and mixed feelings. The physical and political geography of Eastern Europe was redrawn, symbolised by the dismantling of the Berlin Wall. But the growing pains of democracy in China culminated in tragedy. At home, inflation shot up, mortgage rates rose and house prices fell. Mrs Thatcher 's tenth anniversary was overshadowed by mid-term blues that turned into a crisis. Meanwhile the Labour Party staged its most successful party conference for 25 years. It was a year of sadness; the Hillsborough disaster left 95 dead. But it was also a year of personal joy when the release of the Guildford Four gave the innocent a chance to rebuild their lives. And sport produced its usual quota of conquering heroes. Liverpool in the FA Cup, Mike Tyson in the boxing ring and the brilliant Desert Orchid at Cheltenham." #bbc1 #jonathandimbleby #1989
