King County garbage service costs could skyrocket with waste projects to come

Garbage removal costs could rise significantly over the coming years, both for curbside pickup and at transfer stations, as King County’s Solid Waste Management Division (SWD) undertakes several large capital projects. A new analysis by the King County Auditor’s Office estimates these capital projects will cost more than $1.36 billion between now and 2040.
