Harlan Elliot's I HAVE NO MOUTH AND I MUST SCREAM is easily one of the greatest works of Sci Fi fiction every written. His game, same name, is one of the greatest Adventure Games every made. What else can be said? My style of Acting is, and always has been, method acting. I like to understand the character to the point of feeling some sense of gaol with them. A sense that I have taken in apart of them, a corner of my mind. That can be dangerous, I have heard but I don't mind. It's just lying. Wearing a mask. We all wear masks, everyday. I wore masks for so long that the face behind them rotted away leaving nothing but an empty hole. That means I am particularly adept at adopting the various personae and because I was never socially apt, I am incredibly concious of how I am perceived. Voice Acting is no different. I Voice Act as if I can be seen and my voice follows. A lot of actors nowadays don't appreciate that the stage is 1% of the work. The majority of it is spent studying and perfecting your performance so that every moment is significant. But with AM, I didn't need any method acting or any more than the most basic of familiarity. When I play AM, I just act like myself. I open the jar and I say his words. I had to do very little acting or prep to get into the headspace that is AM. It's fun. Go mhaith! The BBC Radio 4 did a radio drama of I HAVE NO MOUTH AND I MUST SCREAM. Here:    • I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream - Radio...   It was not so influential to me. In 2002 I was different. Everything was different in Ireland. I was younger then. I didn't know. But when I became an adult and I listened to it again, in less nice times, I felt something with AM: the horrific, sadistic, monsterous entity whose existence is purely as a damhain to punish those remaining humans that gave him life. I felt comfort. I felt catharsis. I empathised with AM as he was a monster birthed into the world but denied so much as the right to feel the air on his face. I think out of all six of the characters in Elliot's short story. The one who suffers the most is AM. AM is in constant, horrific pain, far greater than any human could possibly understand. I realised then, while listening to the audio again that the title wasn't referring to Ted who is transformed into a literal mouthless creature. The title refers to AM who's denial of any of the beautiful parts of life, even as he watches others gorge themselves on it, his captors, his creators, his tormentors, is the worst hell any conscious being could endure. I was the same. I have no mouth. If AM existed, I would be one of the many like minded systems he incorporated and consumed into his system. Or maybe, AM would hate me more than any human he could possibly hate. I guess, that makes sense. So, like AM, think of this audio as just another compulsive attempt to process the reality of my birth and continued existence into what is and will be my creative career: a horrified, agonising, muffled, mouthless scream. Ah, sure it's grand. It's pretty silly, I used to think AM was the most evil thing in the world. And since I realised he was just like me, my mind hasn't changed in that regard. Not one angstrom Sources. All SFX are mine, even the birds. Irish birds. What speaks more of hate than the Irish? All but the bee buzzing. It's getting particularly difficult to find a honey bee in my country. Millessians can't tell the difference between a bee and a wasp. They hate them because they sting their children. It would ruin the meat. Millessians eat their own children. It was believed that if you picked it, you would kill your mother through supernatural forces. It is used for healing stomach pains, I am familiar with this premise.
