Iron Maiden - First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre, Tinley Park, Chicago, Illinois, US, July 18, 2010, during the Final Frontier World Tour 2010. Special thanks goes to the owner for this DVD. Bruce Dickinson:Vocals Steve Harris:Bass Janick Gers:Guitar Dave Murray:Guitar Adrian Smith:Guitar Nicko McBrain:Drums The Number Of The Beast (Harris) [Lyrics] '' Woe to you, oh Earth and Sea, for the Devil sends the beast with wrath, because he knows the time is short... -- Revelations 12:12 Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast for it is a human number, its number is Six hundred and sixty six.'' Revelations 13:18 I left alone, my mind was blank I needed time to think, to get the memories from my mind What did I see? Can I believe That what I saw that night was real and not just fantasy Just what I saw in my old dreams Were they reflections of my warped mind staring back at me 'Cause in my dreams it's always there The evil face that twists my mind and brings me to despair Night was black, was no use holding back 'Cause I just had to see was someone watching me In the mist dark figures move and twist Was this all for real or just some kind of hell? Six six six -- the Number of the Beast Hell and fire was spawned to be released Torches blazed and sacred chants were praised As they start to cry hands held to the sky In the night the fires burning bright The ritual has begun Satan's work is done Six six six -- the Number of the Beast Sacrifice is going on tonight This can't go on I must inform the law Can this still be real or some crazy dream? But I feel drawn toward the evil chanting hordes Seem to mesmerize me, can't avoid their eyes Six six six -- the Number of the Beast Six six six -- the one for you and me I'm coming back, I will return And I'll possess your body and I'll make you burn I have the fire, I have the force I have the power to make my evil take its course .................................... Hallowed Be Thy Name (Harris) [Lyrics] I'm waiting in my cold cell when the bell begins to chime Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time 'Cause at five o'clock they'll take me to the gallows pole The sands of time for me are running low... Running low... When the priest comes to read me the last rites I take a look through the bars at the last sights Of a world that has gone very wrong for me Can it be there's been some kind of error Hard to stop the surmounting terror Is it really the end not some crazy dream? Somebody please tell me that I'm dreaming It's not easy to stop from screaming But words escape me when I try to speak Tears they flow but why am I crying? After all I'm not afraid of dying Don't I believe that there never is an end? As the guards march me out to the courtyard Someone calls from a cell "God be with you!" If there's a god then why has he let me go? As I walk all my life drifts before me And though the end is near I'm not sorry Catch my soul it's willing to fly away Mark my words please believe my soul lives on Please don't worry now that I have gone I've gone beyond to see the truth When you know that your time is close at hand Maybe then you'll begin to understand Life down here is just a strange illusion Yeah! Hallowed be Thy name! Hallowed be Thy name! .............................. Both songs are from the Iron Maiden's album ''The Number Of The Beast''.The album was released in 1982. The Number Of The Beast .''Basically this song is about a dream. It's not about devil worship. '' (Steve Harris) This song was loosely inspired by the 1978 movie Omen II, and a Steve Harris nightmare. It begins ominously with quoted text from the Bible. Hallowed Be Thy Name ''That's one of my favourite songs and still one we play live. We're trying to create a mood with the build-up of the song. The classical guitar-like opening was Dave building the mood, with bells in the background. It's about someone with only a few hours left to live. In concert the end part of this one takes off. Dave takes the first solo and then Adrian.''(Steve Harris) The unfolding story of the song is seen through the eyes of a man who, facing imminent death, experiences first anguish, then terror, and finally hope that he will return -- hence the final line taken from the Lord's Prayer. The sentence referring to life being "just a strange illusion" should probably not be taken literally, and it seems to be indicating that the way most people consider their own lives is an illusion and not life itself. They have this illusion that the life they're living is the one that was meant for them, and this prevents them from looking any further. They often never fulfill their original dreams because they have been deceived by all those fake dreams that have been instilled into them by society.(Source:www.ironmaidencommentary.com)
