The fire raged for hours. The monstrous form of the fire spread everywhere. More than 40 shops went up in flames. Goods worth crores of rupees were destroyed. The fire brigade was fully engaged in controlling the blaze. After an exhausting three-hour effort, the fire was brought under control. Seventy fire personnel and ten fire officers were deployed in this operation. Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Sulochana Das has clarified that no compensation can be provided to shopkeepers affected by the recent fire incident.
