(11 Oct 2018) ASSOCIATED PRESS Beverly Hills, Calif. 29 July 2018 1. Wide shot zoom to medium Guy Pearce poses for photos 2. SOUNDBITE (English) Guy Pearce, actor and Sorcha Groundsell, actress: Pearce: "I had done a short film for a university before so that was different, I suppose. But my first day - and I had done a lot of theater growing up - but my first day on a, on a shoot was on the television series 'Neighbours' in Australia. And I remember the First A.D. saying, 'Alright, run the jokes,' and I had no idea what he was talking about. I had absolutely no idea what he was... And he meant just run the lines for the scene. But he was, 'Run the jokes' and of course I had the first line. So I'm standing there sort of watching and waiting. He said, 'Run the jokes!' And I'm thinking, 'What jokes do I have? Do I know any jokes!' And I was 18 and as nervous as anything, so I learned pretty quickly on that job." 3. Medium shot; tilt; pull-out to wide Sorcha Groundsell poses for photos 4. SOUNDBITE (English) Sorcha Groundsell, actress: "My first day on my first job was on this tiny island called Iona, like, right off the coast of Scotland, with a crew of about - I don't know - 15 people and it was Ruth Negga and Douglas Henshall, so really incredible actors. And, like, I had never done anything really before. Like, I had, you know, taken acting classes, but I remember just being insanely excited, but also feeling like I was going to pass out when any of them looked at me and, like, asked me questions about what I thought about my character. I was like, 'Oh my God! You want to know my opinion?' Yeah, definitely kind of baptism of fire. But yeah, still to this day, one of my kind of real kind of treasured experiences." 5. Medium shot; pull-out to wide Percelle Ascott poses for photos 6. SOUNDBITE (English) Percelle Ascott and Guy Pearce, actors, and Sorcha Groundsell, actress: Ascott: "I did this, this TV show on BBC and it was like this school sort of TV film, and it was a one-off. And I just remembered it was in this classroom and everyone is calling out all sorts of actions and you're trying to catch up with what's going on. And, in fact, I remember watching it back and there's this moment in this scene where my leg underneath the table is, like, constantly moving and I'm like, 'Why did I do that?' Like, just watching, like, just loads of things where I got distracted by something else, like looking at a light and I'm like…" Groundsell: "It's just a nervous reaction, isn't it?" Ascott: "Yeah, I, I probably wasn't... yeah, I was just a newbie, I guess, isn't it? But it was fun. It was fun." Groundsell: "I guess you're just trying to not look into the camera or do anything unbelievably stupid." Pearce: "It's a lot to think about all at the same time."
