Pterygium can be a common growth on your eye. Sometimes it can look like a white spot on your cornea. If it gets inflamed, then it can look red and irritated. People who have a lot of sun exposure and live in dry, dusty environments are more likely to get a pterygium. It's commonly known as "surfer's eye" because surfer's can get a lot of sun exposure without wearing sunglasses, and are more prone to getting a pterygium. It's important to wear sunglasses and treat your dry eyes to control your pterygium.
