During a 20-week anatomy scan, Andi’s doctor discovered something concerning in her ultrasound—Emmie’s kidneys were missing. It wasn’t long until they learned Emmie had bilateral renal agenesis (BRA), a rare and life-threatening condition in which a baby’s kidneys never develop. Despite not knowing if Emmie would survive, she was born and put on dialysis. After six months, Emmie was referred to the pediatric nephrology team at Children’s, where she received comprehensive care until she was able to receive a life-saving kidney transplant, from none other than her mom. ___________________________________________________________________________ Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Homepage: https://www.choa.org Find a Doctor: https://www.choa.org/search?tab=docto...
