Today’s adventure is all about Mevagissey, one of Cornwall’s most characterful working fishing harbours! We’re starting down by the harbour car park, heading up to the Mevagissey viewing platform for those big sweeping shots over the twin harbours, before wandering the quays, boats and back alleys that have seen everything from pilchard booms to smuggling, lifeboats and even movie crews. On this walk, we’ll chat about Mevagissey harbour history, the days when pilchards powered both the Royal Navy and the street lights, how the old lifeboat house became first a café and then the Mevagissey Aquarium, and why these narrow streets were perfect for outsmarting the customs men.
