People living with HIV are around twice as likely to have mental health problems, compared to the general public. Additionally, 1 in 5 of people surveyed in the Positive Voices research reported needing help dealing with isolation and loneliness. A staggering 75% of people reported that they had an unmet need for help dealing with isolation and loneliness. This talk will explore the mental health issues, loneliness and social isolation experienced by people living with HIV. It will also seek to offer some ideas for managing our mental health and connecting with other people to reduce loneliness. Our speakers will include:- Anne Callaghan (Campaign to End Loneliness) - understanding Loneliness and Social Isolation Clive Blowes (Terrence Higgins Trust ) - Mental health and HIV, drawing on the APPG and Positive Voices reports Emma Straughan (SAMH) - 'Let's Talk': a Scottish project helping people manage their mental health.
