For those who love USA quality in the early days, well here you are!! I always wanted to fix one of these up and even though this completed a cycle outside, upon inspection I noticed transmission oil around the cover of the transmission and I checked this because this machine did not “neutral drain” which these machines are designed for. Even though this didn’t make any grinding noises or odd noises from the transmission. This machine ran amazing despite the transmission needing future replacement and don’t get too carried away with the squeak noises during spin, I had this on a concrete that isn’t quite level so it’s not the main bearings or anything like that. You’ll see me sitting on it part of the video and viola! So the story goes was I scored this machine from a Whiteware place and this was going to the scrapyard if I didn’t see this, so in my car it went as I wasn’t going to let this opportunity go! This machine I noticed that the lid switch was faulty so I managed to make a jumper wire and did exactly what the USA fans of these do! However does any Whirlpool DD fans know how to date code these machines to the exact manufacturer date? I date coded this on a website with a couple of suggestions of dates and one was May 2012 and one was May 1980’s can’t remember the last number but the C12 must be a giveaway? Once I have this fixed properly I will definitely do lots of videos! Just a FYI, the country I live in is 230-40 volts as opposed to 120 volts in North America!
