Making Strong Apple Wine & Calvados from Store Bought Apple Juice: A Home Brew & Air Still Adventure!    • Making Strong Apple Wine & Calvados f...   . Hey folks! In this film I'll be demonstrating how to make strong apple wine at 17.5% and Calvados / Apple Brandy at 38.5% using my home brew kit and an air still. The ingredients are very simple and include apple juice, brewing sugar, tomato puree, oak chips and Lalvin EC-1118 yeast. The wine is made in a Munton's wine fermenter to a very strong 17.5%, some of this is bottled and some of it is distilled into a neutral spirit before being put on oak chips and then back flavoured with apple juice and sugar. The net result of this is a medium and very flavoursome / potent dessert wine and apple bandy that genuinely tastes like calvados. This is my most successful spirit creation yet, although I must say that the wine stole the show for me, it is truly delicious. Cheers folks!
