Day 163. May 18, 2025. The Nebula and the Housatonic This was a relatively short day. I wanted to make sure my blisters and chafing didn't get worse so I started south from 1465.7, Schaghticoke Road south to the Connecticut line. The trail brought us beautiful views of the Housatonic River, 10 Mile Creek and a stiff hike up and over 10 Mile Hill. Along the way, an oncoming hiker called out to me. "Hey, I know you." I looked up and he said "Tick Magnet." "We used to chat every day last March 2024 back in Georgia and North Carolina." How cool was that! It was amazing to meet a compatriot from my hike last year, and 1400 miles distant. This trail, such a linear feature brings us all together at various places and times. Nebula and I had a great conversation, name dropping other hikers we met. I also met the Connecticut Appalachian Trail supervisor. He was doing an inventory of the Connecticut trail. I told him of my low opinion of the NY trail, and he just smiled. We had been looking for a time to drive back south to Bear Mountain so that Running Water and Trip could do a short section they had missed earlier. As such, we endured the drive and got the miles in. My reduced miles allowed me additional time to heal up. We returned to the AT near Kent, CT and camped.
