The original Ad Libs lineup consisted of Dave Watt, Hugh Harris, Danny Austin, Norman Donegan and Mary Ann Thomas. They recorded on the Blue Cat label and are best remembered for their 1964 hit, The Boy From New York City. They group reformulated in 1966 with the original members, Watt and Harris, joined by newcomers, Chris Bartley, Arthur Robinson, Irene Baker,and Rose Myers. The second version of the Ad Libs recorded on the Phillips, Share, and eventually the Capitol Records labels. Released in 1968 on Share, Show A Little Appreciation, was written by Van McCoy.
