In this video, we are going to show you what it's like traveling to The Galapagos Islands in 2020. Traveling to the Galapagos isn’t difficult; However, we found there is a lack of information out there in regards to all the different steps. There are several fees that need to be paid to the Galapagos national park and you also need to be aware of all the different ferry, taxis, and buses that you will take to get to the Galapagos. Please be aware that the Galapagos Islands, charge in USD. The flights to the Galapagos are from Guayaquil, Ecuador at the GYE airport. When you arrive at the Guayaquil Airport you will need to pay a $20 USD fee per person to the Galapagos in order to board the plane. You will have to pay this fee before you check-in for your flight or check your bags, they will need to see proof you paid the fee. There is a counter in the center of the airport that will be specifically for paying this fee and getting the special tags for your bags. You have two options to get to the Galapagos, you can fly into San Cristobal or Baltra Island. We chose to fly into Baltra Island, when you arrive in the Galapagos you will have to pay $100 USD per person to the Galapagos national park reserve. You will need to pay another $5 USD per person to take a bus from the airport to the ferry. When you arrive at the ferry, you will need to pay $1 USD per person to take the ferry from Baltra Island to Santa Cruz Island. The ferry ride is 5-10 minutes long. When you arrive on Santa Cruz Island, you have two options to get into downtown Puerto Ayora, you can take the bus for $8 USD per person or you can take your own taxi for a flat $25 USD fee. We chose to take the bus when we arrived, please be aware it takes almost twice as long as a taxi and it drops everyone off at the same spot downtown. We recommend taking a taxi, it’s a lot easier. If you fly into San Cristobal, it’s much easier when you arrive. You still have to pay the $100 USD per person to the Galapagos National Park; However, the airport is located downtown and you can pay $5 USD to take you from the airport to your hotel. After traveling across the Galapagos Islands for 30 days we have our thought’s on how someone should experience the Galapagos. We recommend flying into Baltra Island and flying out of San Cristobal. When you arrive in Santa Cruz, you should spend 2-3 days there and after you should take a ferry to Floreana for 3-4 days. Go back to Santa Cruz, then take a ferry to Isabela, spend 3-4 days on Isabela, then back to Santa Cruz and finally take a ferry to San Cristobal and spend your final days therefore you fly back to Guayaquil, Ecuador. This would make the perfect Galapagos vacation and it’s what we would recommend.
