Are women entrepreneurs really hopeless with money?

Women are less good at finance. Women don't want to raise funds. Women aren't as good at pitching. Three myths. One common thread: they all locate the problem in the woman — not in the system that evaluates her. This video tackles the finance, funding, and pitching myths together, because they belong together. They form a compounding barrier: if you're assumed to be less financially capable, you're offered less support to develop those skills; if you're assumed not to want funding, you're asked different questions in the room; and if you're judged as a weaker pitcher, it's worth asking who wrote the rules about what a great pitch looks like, and whose style of delivery gets rewarded. The data is clear. When you look at who actually gets funded, what kinds of questions investors ask women versus men in pitch settings, and how financial performance of women-led businesses compares — the myth collapses. What we find instead is a system that has been calibrated around a narrow set of behaviours and then blamed women for not matching them. Notice the source of the data. Who needs training, really?
