Dharamshala does not have a railway station. The nearest railway stations are at Pathankot Cantonment and Pathankot, which is 90 kms from Dharamshala by taxi or bus. You can also take a slow train from Pathankot to Kangra, which takes around 6 hours. Kangra is 15 kms from Dharamshala, and taxi services are available from there. From the two railway stations at Pathankot, you can go to the bus stand for buses to Dharamshala. The bus stand is 15 minutes from the railway station. The price of a ticket is Rs.120, and takes 4 hours to reach Dharamshala. It takes 15 mins from the Dharamshaala bus stand to the city. Taxis are available from Pathankot, Jalandar and Amritsar to Dharamshala. From New Delhi, it takes 10 hours by taxi to reach Dharamshala. There are also many taxis available from Chandigarh to Dharamshala. There are also Volvo bus services to Dharamshala from Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, and Manali.
