Ditch the KJV? In this video we test 5 popular claims against the Word of God and respond directly to the arguments made in “Ditch Your King James Bible: 5 Reasons” (Ted Shuttlesworth Jr.). Our goal is simple: take every claim, every clip, and every movement and lay it next to Scripture—because the Bible is the final authority, not opinions, trends, or personalities. We walk through the five major points often used to push believers away from the King James Bible: “The KJV is too hard to understand” “If you don’t understand the Word, you can’t bear fruit” “The KJV used inferior manuscripts” “The KJV hurts your devotional life” “The KJV will negatively impact your witness” Instead of reacting emotionally, we open the Bible and examine what God actually says about understanding, spiritual discernment, and fruit. We look at Matthew 13:23 (the parable of the sower), 1 Corinthians 2 (spiritual discernment), 2 Timothy 2:15 (study), and key passages about God preserving His words. We also address the manuscript discussion at a practical level—why “older” does not automatically mean “better,” and why many believers are concerned about omissions and doctrinal clarity across modern translations. This is not about idolizing a translation, “deifying” a Bible, or blindly following tradition. It is about confidence in God’s promise to preserve His Word and the importance of treating Scripture as the final standard for doctrine, devotion, and evangelism. If your Bible reading feels difficult, the answer is not always to “ditch” your Bible—the answer may be prayer, humility, consistency, and asking the Holy Spirit for understanding as you read. We also encourage prayer for everyone affected by public sin, and we emphasize biblical discernment regarding teachers and doctrine. Test all things by the Word of God. Scriptures referenced (read in full in your Bible) Matthew 13:23 • 1 Corinthians 2 • 2 Timothy 2:15 • 1 Peter 3:15 • Psalm 12:6–7 • Joshua 1:8 • Psalm 138:2 ___________________________________________________________________________ We have to start with the truth about our condition. Sin isn't just "making a mistake"; it is falling short of God’s perfect standard. Romans 3:23 (KJV): "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Because God is holy and just, sin carries a penalty. It’s a debt we owe that leads to death—both physical and spiritual. Romans 6:23 (KJV): "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." The Debt: You Can’t Pay It Think of sin like a massive debt. No matter how many "good deeds" you do, or how religious you are, you cannot pay off that debt. Religion and "being a good person" are like trying to pay a million-dollar fine with pocket lint. It simply isn't enough to satisfy a holy God. Repentance: A Change of Mind Biblical repentance is a change of mind. It is turning from the idea that you can save yourself, or that your "goodness" is enough, and realizing that you need a perfect, sinless sacrifice to be made on your behalf. You must realize that you are lost and that only God can provide the solution. The Solution: Jesus Christ This is why Jesus Christ came. He was the only one who could pay our debt because He had no sin of His own. He took your place, took your debt, and paid it in full. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV): "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel... how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" The Gift: God’s Grace Salvation isn't a reward for the worthy; it’s a free gift for the guilty who believe. That is what "Grace" means—getting something wonderful that you didn't earn. Romans 10:11 (KJV): "For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." The Security: Sealed Forever When you trust in Christ’s finished work (His death, burial, and resurrection) as the only payment for your sins, God does something incredible: He seals you. Ephesians 1:13-14 (KJV): "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory." Once you are sealed by the Holy Spirit, you are safe. Nothing—not even your own failures—can break that seal or take you out of God's hand. Romans 8:38-39 (KJV): For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
