Sin isn't just "making a mistake"; it is falling short of God’s perfect standard. Romans 3:23 (KJV): "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Because God is holy and just, sin carries a penalty. It’s a debt we owe that leads to death—both physical and spiritual. Romans 6:23 (KJV): "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." The Debt: You Can’t Pay It Think of sin like a massive debt. No matter how many "good deeds" you do, or how religious you are, you cannot pay off that debt. Religion and "being a good person" are like trying to pay a million-dollar fine with pocket lint. He was the only one who could pay our debt because He had no sin of His own. He took your place, took your debt, and paid it in full. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV): "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel... how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" The Gift: God’s Grace Salvation isn't a reward for the worthy; it’s a free gift for the guilty who believe. Once you are sealed by the Holy Spirit, you are safe. Nothing—not even your own failures—can break that seal or take you out of God's hand.
