A fresh example of this was seen in Rohini Sector-20, Aman vihar police station out side Lal Bulding School where a 12th-grade student was suddenly attacked by 5–6 other girls from her own school. This shocking incident forces us to think: where is so much violence and hatred coming from in children? The case is from August 9. While returning home from school, a 15-year-old student was surrounded by her classmate and a few minor girls from outside the school. They attacked her with a blade (paper cutter). The victim sustained deep injuries on her face and waist and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors had to put more than 50 stitches. Fortunately, her life was saved, and her condition is currently stable. Reports suggest the attack was the result of a minor quarrel. On Teacher’s Day celebrations, the victim and another student had an argument. To take revenge for this, the accused girl, along with her friends, planned the entire attack. CCTV footage clearly shows the victim walking home with her friends when the other group of girls blocked her way. What started as an exchange of words soon turned into a violent assault. The victim herself revealed that these girls had been troubling her for a while, but she had always ignored their behavior. She never imagined that such cruelty could result from such a small dispute. The biggest question now is about Delhi Police’s role. The family alleged that even after filing a complaint, the police took the matter lightly for two days and delayed the FIR. They even tried to pressurize and intimidate the victim’s side. Such a serious case should have been registered immediately and dealt with strict action, but instead, it was brushed aside initially. The worrying part is that if schoolgirls can become so violent in broad daylight, and if the police also act carelessly, how can ordinary citizens—especially women and children—feel safe? This was not just an attack on a girl, but also a reflection of the failure of our social and law enforcement systems. What is needed today is to guide children in the right direction, to teach them to control anger and ego. At the same time, the police must take quick and strict action in such incidents, otherwise, such cases will keep repeating. This incident makes us wonder—has safety for women and children in Delhi been reduced to just words on paper? And does our system only wake up when an incident gets caught on camera?
