Here is Eric Ball's masterpiece Resurgam ('I Shall Rise Again') as played by the Lancaster British Brass Band under their new Musical Director Dr. Stephen Arthur Allen at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Lancaster, PA, USA on Sunday May 6th 2012. After 5 rehearsals of a 2 hour program this concert represents the climax of the first concert series with Dr. Allen as Music Director. Resurgam is a complex work, written during the period Ball had left the Salvation Army. It's inspiration came from the death of Ball's sister-in-law and the text upon which the work is based is not from the bible, but rather the Apocryphal Book of Wisdom: The souls of the righteous are in the hands of God, And no torment can touch them In the eyes of the foolish they seem to have died And their departure was counted to be their hurt, And their journeying away from us to be their ruin; But they are in peace.
