Aloha and Mahalo for joining us once again here at pineapple Top, Hawaii! We love to cook old local style recipes that we remember growing up here in Hawaii. Yes, I am born and raised in Hawaii just like my mom, dad, grandparents, great grandparents…etc. and there have been a lot of different ethnicities and cuisines brought here to the islands, that’s the reason why we have what we call “local food” it’s a mix of different cuisines from Filipino food, Japanese food, Chinese food The list goes on. Now authentic Hawaiian food is in its own category. But local style phone is a melting pot in itself. So sometimes when we cook our version, it won’t be authentic, or be the name that it was authentically called , but it’s what we grew up eating. So come along and join us in cooking recipes new and old and of course what we love to eat! We call this pork hash, and for me my fondest memories is eating this from 7-11 up in kaumana. Now, pork hash is a “local” dish meaning, it was influenced by the Chinese when they would make shumai. These are bigger and meaty, some put shrimp, kimchi, or even curry. And there so Ono!
