I picked up this Limestone pebble on my local beach and spent a pleasant day in my garden carving my limestone man. He is so sad I nicknamed him "melancholy Joe". Stone carving beach pebbles with a Dremel type tool is a wonderful craft pastime, calming and great for clearing the mind in these troubled times. Exploring Dremel stone carving ideas is a wonderful way to stretch the imagination and explore your inner artist! This style of subject is generally called "Spirit Man Carving" and you might find craft ideas doing a search for this on YouTube. There is one wood carver I follow in particular "CarvingandSuch" I think his Dremel carving tutorials are a great source of ideas and lessons for beginners, and I will link to his channel below. I hope you enjoy my "Melancholy Joe" project and I hope it inspires you to have a go! There are many stone carving tutorials for beginners on YouTube and I have linked to a few of my own below. For safety, as I was using water to cool the burrs, I used a Parkside cordless grinder, I find the Parkside tool to be a really useful machine and I never seem to run out of battery on these small jobs. I set up my simple water feed which I think is essential for carving hard stone, slate, or beach rock. I have linked below to how I did this.
