But what might surprise you, is how easy it is to recreate similar sounds within Vital and our DAW of choice, Ableton. The first thing to note in terms of dubstep / freeform sound design, is that basic shapes are incredibly common and incredibly fat, and not even Jantsen can resist their temptation. To add some high end and harmonic contrast, we layer basic shapes up into the higher octaves and intervals, before slamming them with distortion, multiband compression, and chorus for a bit of stereo. Add lowpass filters and frequency shifters for wompy phasey movement, and experiment from there :) Don't forget glides and pitch bends though!
