Welcome to my review of S.H.Figuarts VulEagle [バルイーグル] from Taiyo Sentai SunVulcan [太陽戦隊サンバルカン]! Its at this point I should probably start saying farewell to Sentai Figuarts. You see, the joke has always been that Bandai starts a line of toys with a lot of promise and then completely shits the bed by adding SunVulcan toys to the line. What is the obsession with SunVulcan? It's *alright*, but it really isn't the spectacular show that Bandai and Toei seem to think it is. I previously joked that this Figuart of VulEagle should have come with a coffin big enough for all of your Sentai Figuarts to fit in. Am I wrong to say that about this toy? SHF VulEagle comes with a Vulcan Stick, Katana, and several hands. The good? Love the detail on the belt buckle. The bad? This figure sucks. I am really not feeling this new Sentai body style that they introduced with Akaranger. Atleast with that figure, it worked a little better I suppose. The Goranger suits were more costumes than they were uniforms. It's really hard to describe, but this figure just does not work. If it were based on the older body style, I think they could have pulled off this figure a little better. I mean, it doesn't even look right how they shoehorned it into the packaging either. Outside of this, there is one blindingly awful quality control issue with this figure. Look at the soles. They painted the bottom, but not the sides? I mean...admittedly I'm not a super expert on the Sunvulcan boots, but this just seems like an error. I'm not even sure if this is an error on just my figure of if this is a common issue. On top of those problems...the scarf gets in the way of neck articulation and they didn't bother to include a wind effect scarf. Really, I don't recommend this figure. If you have a giftcard or points burning a hole in your pocket (as I usually do since that is primarily how I pay for Figuarts), get Ryuranger...or...Tyrannoranger...or even Boukenred over this Figuart. There may not be an absolute ton of Sentai Figuarts, but there certainly ones you should get before this one. Don't bother. Don't even get too attached to Sentai Figuarts in general, I don't see them going on much longer if this is the crap they're going to pump out.
