Welcome back to This Old Doom, the daily real-estate-not-real-estate tour where we take classic DOOM and DOOM II maps, clear them 100%, and assign an extremely scientific market value via a mod. Today’s listing is MAP10: Refueling Base, and it’s a special one for me: this is the very first DOOM level I ever played in multiplayer, so I’ve got a weird nostalgic soft spot for it. Architecturally, it absolutely earns the name. The layout feels like a full-on truck stop complex with industrial corridors, outdoor cut-throughs, and a ton of little side “rooms” that read like shower stalls, micro-suites, or overnight refuel pods depending on how generous you’re feeling. But don’t let the scenic potential fool you. This is one of the most stressful tours we’ve had in Doom II so far, because the place is crawling with bullet-based tenants who would love nothing more than to turn your humble property walkthrough into an urgent-care visit. It’s huge, it’s crowded, it’s chaotic, and the flow of the level makes it feel like you’re always one wrong door away from accidentally opening the world’s worst surprise party. The good news is that the Refueling Base is also absolutely packed with secrets. We’re talking constant “why is this one different?” energy, hidden nooks, triggered panels, and enough missable side content to keep you second-guessing every dark corner and every slightly suspicious wall texture. It’s the kind of map where you’re not just touring the amenities, you’re actively trying to survive long enough to notice the amenities exist. Between the sheer monster count, the sprawling footprint, the secret density, and the eventual access to the kind of firepower you wish you’d had much earlier, this listing climbs into record territory. By the time everything is finally evicted, documented, and accounted for, the Refueling Base closes at roughly 4.82 million in market value, making it one of the biggest properties we’ve appraised in the entire series so far. Tomorrow’s map won’t be easy either, but it might be the most architecturally interesting one we’ve seen yet in Doom II. I’ll see you then. This will doom everybody. #JohnWyattEdgar #JWEPlays #ThisOldDoom #DOOMII #ClassicDOOM #RetroGaming #FPSHistory #LevelDesign #GameDesign #GamingWalkthrough #Completionist #UltraViolence #PCGaming #OldGames #VideoGameArchitecture #DoomMapping #GZDoom #SinglePlayerGaming #GamingSeries #RetroFPS #MAP10 #RefuelingBase #HellOnEarth #WaterfrontDevelopmentWithScenicPotential
