Internet and text message services have been suspended since Thursday, isolating Bangladesh from the rest of the world. Tapan Chandra, an Indian citizen returning from Bangladesh, described the situation as horrific, and said, "Jails, factories and vehicles have been put on fire. Prisoners were burned to death. Roads were also destroyed. Buses, many other vehicles, and houses have also been destroyed and torched by the protests. There is nothing left."
