Signs you are dating a covert narcissist. The covert narcissist or the 'nice' narcissist that groomed me was extremely clever. Covert narcissism is not easy to spot. If you are dating or married to a covert narcissist, you may have not understood the depths of covert manipulation when you first met this person. The covert narcissist man that infiltrated my life groomed me for six months before we met. Months later, the realization of what took place left me stunned, confused, embarrassed, shocked, and humiliated. The covert narcissist I dated, used covert narcissistic manipulative tactics to brainwash me into believing he was a good person. The covert narcissist used crazymaking communication to abuse me and I wasn't even aware it was happening. If you are married to a narcissist who uses projection, or crazymaking communication, please know it is possible to end the narcissistic relationship and get unstuck. Sadly, there are covert narcissists who wish to abuse, control, dominate, bully, and take advantage of others who are far more trusting than they are. Relationships are where many of us act out our childhood wounds. At the time, I was unaware that I was ignoring red flags and that my not speaking up was a remnant of my old codependent thinking. I am lucky. I got away. But I know there were others who were not as fortunate. In this YouTube video about the 'covert narcissist' that infiltrated my life, I discuss how I found myself involved with who lied, manipulated, and brainwashed me for months before I met him, only to discover his entire life was a complete lie. It took me years to recover from this toxic relationship, but I am thankful for the lessons it has taught me. How narcissists think is scary sneaky.
