For our 2023 applicants. Congratulations to those moving on to the next phase of CFD's interview process. Each applicant will be given the same in person opportunity to interview, with their score accounting for 60% of the total hiring process score. Structure: Applicants will receive 2 interview questions upon arrival at the interview, and be given a prep session lasting 10 minutes. During this prep session it is expected the applicant will jot down thoughts, or key points they want to cover while in their interviews regarding the two pre-selected questions. The page of notes will stay with the applicant, and they will have use of it during the board interviews. Each applicant will then move to Oral Board A, where they will sit in front of a panel of 5 Carmel Firefighters for a total of 8 minutes and be asked 4 questions, with the first question being one of the two they were allowed to prepare for in the prep session. After Oral Board A they will move to Oral Board B, with 5 different Carmel Firefighters sitting on this board. In Oral Board B they will receive 4 different questions, with the first question being the second of the two the applicant prepped for. After 8 minutes with Oral Board B the applicant will be done with their interview. The applicants scores from both panels will be added, and used for their interview score. Numbers: -Roughly 200 interviews being performed. -10 Carmel Firefighters will sit on 2 separate boards. You'll see both. -You'll get 8 different interview questions. -You'll have 10 minutes to prepare for 2 of the 8 questions. -You'll have a total of 16 minutes between the two boards. If you have specific questions after reading the above, and watching the video, please reach out to Lieutenant McNeely mmcneely@carmel.in.gov prior to April 17th.
