This Docufilm concludes on a project to mark International Mother Language Day 2022, has been supported by the Southlands College, and delivered by Southlands College Community Leader (SCCL) Fahad Ahmed. This film covers History of International Mother Language Day, the Language Movement in 1952 from social, economic, legal, and political aspects, it also covers minority language suppression, importance of multilingualism. However, the film identified common language problem for the international students, and suggested solution for it. Background: The idea to celebrate International Mother Language Day was the initiative of Bangladesh. It was declared by the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in November 1999, to be marked on 21 February. The UN General Assembly welcomed the declaration in its resolution of 2002. For 2022, the observance is a call on educators and teachers, parents and families to scale up their commitment to multilingual education. This effort also contributes to the United Nations International Decade of Indigenous Languages (2022-2032), for which UNESCO is the lead agency.
