Like many expatriates, we live a busy life balancing work and daily responsibilities. But every Malayali who lives in the Gulf always counts the days until they can visit their home again. This trip had been in our minds for many months, and finally the time had come. The night before our travel was full of excitement. Packing bags always becomes a special moment when we travel to Kerala. We carefully packed gifts for our family members, chocolates, perfumes, small surprises, and things that our loved ones in Kerala always ask us to bring from the UAE. Anyone who travels from the Gulf to India knows how important luggage space becomes during these trips. Early in the morning, we got ready and headed to the airport. The drive to the airport itself felt different because we knew we were going home. Airports in the UAE are always busy with travelers from all around the world, but for us, it felt like the beginning of a long-awaited reunion with our homeland. Once we reached the airport, we completed the check-in procedures and security checks. The excitement slowly started building up even more as we saw many other Malayali families also traveling to Kerala. You can easily recognize the happiness on their faces. For Gulf Malayalis, flights to Kerala are always emotional journeys. After completing immigration procedures, we entered the departure area and waited for our flight. Airports in the UAE are always impressive with their modern design, duty-free shopping areas, restaurants, and lounges. But honestly, during this trip, our mind was already in Kerala. Finally, the boarding announcement came, and we got onto the flight. Sitting inside the aircraft, we both looked at each other with happiness because this journey meant a lot to us. After one year away from home, we were finally on our way back. The flight journey from the UAE to Kerala is usually a few hours long, but during this trip, every minute felt meaningful. Looking out of the window, watching the clouds, thinking about family waiting for us — everything made the journey unforgettable. When the pilot announced that we were about to land in Kerala, the excitement was beyond words. Seeing the green landscape of Kerala from the airplane window is something every Malayali loves. The lush greenery, rivers, coconut trees, and the natural beauty of Kerala make it truly God's Own Country. As soon as we landed, we felt a completely different atmosphere compared to the UAE. The humidity, the smell of rain-soaked soil, and the familiar surroundings immediately reminded us that we were home. After completing immigration and collecting our luggage, the most beautiful moment finally arrived — meeting our family members after one year. That moment cannot be described in words.
