The Mariyung D Set is the newest intercity train in the fleet, replacing the Silver Set, the Intercity V Set, initially on the Central Coast and Newcastle Line, followed by the Blue Mountains Line, and then replacing the OScars on the South Coast Line later on and entering service on 3rd December 2024 as an 8-car set running on the Central Coast and Newcastle Line, until they roll out the 6-car set to combine with the 4-car set to a configuration of a 10-car set. Built by Hyundai Rotem in South Korea in 2019, these D Sets have a lot of history during their time on the rail network, with the amount of testing, safety modifications, RTBU opposition over safety concerns, and industrial actions.
