Winter Storm Fern Prep - Public Works

Public Works is pulling out all the stops to prep for the pending winter storm. Ice is expected to coat the roads this weekend, which will create hazardous driving conditions. Jeff Sadler, director of the road maintenance division of DPW, encourages everyone to stay home and off the roads. More than 100 trucks will be out plowing and/or salting the roads 24 hours per day until the roads are safe and clear. Trucks will also be dropping a 50/50 mixture of salt and sand to promote traction and melting. Even with these measures, the roads are not expected to be safe to travel. Our crews are ready to do everything they can to improve road conditions, and the best way to help during the storm is to stay home if possible. Stay safe!
