In this longer-than-usual episode, we take our time to explore the streets of beautiful Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic's Bohemia region. We marvel at the 19th century architecture, built for the well-heeled and aristocratic tourists of Europe and we philosophise off the cuff about the merits of biophilic design in the built environment. We discover several distinct areas of the town and both praise and chastise its 20th century architects based on how well (or otherwise) their efforts measured up to Karlovy's Vary's architectural heritage. We puzzle over whether we can see steam rising from one of the local rivers and if this might account for the uncharacteristic growth of palm trees in the area.
