Meaning of COLD SHOULDER - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles

READ ALONG TO PRACTICE YOUR ENGLISH AND TO LEARN THE MEANING OF COLD SHOULDER: Has anyone ever given you the cold shoulder? When someone gives you the cold shoulder, it means that they are ignoring you. I thought that this was a good phrase for today because it had the word cold in it and as you can see, we're having a little bit of a snow storm here in Canada. It's really cool. But anyways, sometimes when you go to a party and you see someone you know and you go over to talk to them and they just kind of turn and walk away, we would say that they're giving you the cold shoulder. Or maybe you go to family event and you and your sister aren't getting along and when you go to the family dinner or the family reunion, your sister gives you the cold shoulder. That would mean that she kind of ignores you and doesn't give you very much attention. It's kinda rude to give someone the cold shoulder but it does happen sometimes when you don't get along, sometimes people give you the cold shoulder. As I said, we're having a little bit of a snow storm here in Canada and that made me think about phrases that had the word cold in it and I thought of the phrase, cold shoulder. There's another phrase, to be left out in the cold. When you're left out in the cold, it kinda means that people have planned something and they didn't tell you about it. So, if they leave you out in the cold, it means that they decided to go to a movie and they didn't invite you and they didn't tell you. They kinda left you out in the cold.
