We have launched the Conversation of Change series (Women at Work) —a video interview series with leading thinkers and practitioners from the field of social impact, to build perspectives and visibility on the theme of women’s participation and leadership in the workforce. About the Speaker: Avani Parekh, Community Builder and Strategic Leadership Coach From the desert salt pans of Gujarat, rural North Carolina, to the world of Web2 and now Web 3, Avani is a community builder standing at the intersection of tech and empathy. She is super passionate about women's communities and creating safe spaces for the most marginalized. She was recently at Meta supporting community leaders around the world through our coaching, programs and certifications, but in the post-pandemic world she crave to build spaces where we can connect in real life. About the Moderator Soumya Mishra, Assistant Manager - Community Building and Engagement - Women at Work Soumya is a young neuroqueer development sector professional primarily interested in leveraging digital mediums to amplify marginalised voices, bridge existing gaps, promote inclusivity and accessibility. Their work and approaches are very much informed by my lived experiences. As a personal project, they are also building a podcast—Atypical Dikkatein—to chronicle the stories of queer-disabled folx in India as our stories are often relegated to the margins. Building a community and fostering a sense of belongingness have been crucial in their work approach. They actively contribute to a community of social sector professionals by co-managing WhatsApp groups to share job opportunities and resources that align with the feminist vision. She is also an experienced writer and researcher with a demonstrated history of working in the online media industry. They are interested in gender, sexuality, neurodiversity, disability and literary studies with a Master of English Studies from The University of Sydney.
