England grew more powerful and ambitious, whilst Spain under the rule of King Phillip threatened the downfall of the of the Queen, with the might of the Spanish Armada. France continued attempts to woo her majesty - but to no avail. For Elizabeth would not marry just anyone, no mortal man could suffice - for she pledged her heart to the only man who mattered - her country. Days turn into weeks, weeks into years - and although England thrived, Elizabeth aged. With each passing moment she knew she was one step closer to fading away, like any english rose.
