This winter backyard study captures a remarkable gathering of birds in the calm after a blizzard. Filmed between 10:30am and 1:30pm on February 23, 2026, this 1 hour 47 minute session shows continuous activity at a snow-covered Woodlink Going Green Platform Bird Feeder. The feeder is filled with Lyric Wild Bird Food, a beginner’s blend containing black oil sunflower seed, striped sunflower seed, cracked corn, shelled peanuts, safflower seed and white proso millet. Species seen in this footage include: • Male red-bellied woodpecker • Blue jays (up to four at once) • Mourning doves • Northern cardinals • Brown-headed cowbirds • Dark-eyed juncos • Multiple sparrow species • Common grackles • European starlings The platform feeder sits in the foreground atop a mound of snow, while evergreen branches sway softly out of focus in the background. Filmed with a Sony a9 and 50mm f/1.8 lens in natural winter light. No music. No narration. Just real winter bird activity. Part of an ongoing seasonal backyard wildlife archive documenting natural feeding behavior during extreme weather.
