While we battle with Covid-19, on the other front, Asia’s shrimp farming continues to grapple with the ongoing threat of diseases- decreasing survival rates and disruptions in the production chain. We need to address this weak link and the challenges diseases pose to improving production efficiency. This virtual conversation will focus on three major disease threats - AHPND, EHP and WFS. In general, management of all three diseases continues to be difficult for many farms while there has been success in some countries. Beginning the session, Dr Loc Tran will share information on diseases impacting Asia’s shrimp aquaculture. A panel discussion will follow with industry leaders from India, Indonesia and Thailand. Together, they will discuss recent changes in disease mitigation efforts and guide farmers on best practices to manage these three diseases in vannamei shrimp farms in their respective countries. Is there a best practice to be learnt?
