(14 Oct 1995) T/I: 10:50:17 Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic toured the western Bosnian town of Prijedor on Friday (13/10) to quell panic among his countrymen amid reports of bitter fighting in spite of the U.S.-brokered cease-fire, which came into effect on Thursday (12/10). Prijedor came under a barrage of shells forcing up to 40,000 civilians to flee the advancing Moslem-Croat troops. UNHCR officials reported some 15,000 refugees were given shelter in Omarska, half-way between Prijedor and Banja Luka, the last Bosnian Serb stronghold in western Bosnia.
