This is one of my many songs with the general theme of embracing each day so that at the end of life we can look back proudly on a life well lived. I had already written and rewritten many drafts of this song but had never found a singlong hook for the chorus that seemed to resonate as I wished until I arrived in Malawi and my friend Ebony (who sings backing vocals on the recording) and her daughters suggested that I could just say 'Zabho!' (cool!) and 'Inde!' (Yes!) in Chichewa language for the chorus. And then we selected the Chichewa idioms for the verse intros that basically mean that you need to do the work if you want to enjoy the rewards of that work.
