INDIA Alliance's big fight is out in the open as Mamata Banerjee said that she will go solo in Bengal in the 2024 general elections. "I had no discussions with the Congress. I have always said that in Bengal, we will fight alone. I gave them many proposals... but they rejected them," she said. Hours later, AAP leader and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said that his party will fight on all the Lok Sabha seats in the state. Congress' Jairam Ramesh was quick to react saying INDIA alliance cannot be imagined without Mamata Banerjee. As the elections approach, the inside drama over seat-sharing talks are now unfolding in the open. Meanwhile, the Modi govt has announced Bharat Ratna for former Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur and speculations are on the rise that Nitish might join the NDA again. Thakur was a champion of social justice and conducting a nationwide caste census would be an appropriate tribute to him, Jairam Ramesh said. "Even though it reflects the Modi Govt's desperation and hypocrisy, Congress welcomes the posthumously awarded Bharat Ratna to the champion of social justice Jannayak Karpoori Thakurji," Ramesh said.
