Destruction Of Heathens (35:32) OUT NOW on CD and limited MC at www.iconoclasmconquest.com Antichrist Supremacy Violations is the first official full-length album from Hanzaisha, the album’s overall vibe and feel is consistent with that of the Unholy Emperor demo. After the short success of Unholy Emperor as the debut for a true Japanese war metal band, Hanzaisha successfully proved that the style of war metal can be mixed with specific punk influences to create a unique, catchy, thrashy, but still punishing listen. After Hanzaisha’s only show opening for Deiphago, the band released Judas Hell, a demo which featured much of the same style as Unholy Emperor, despite differences in songwriting between the two releases. It didn’t take long for Hanzaisha to rise up from the depths of the Biwako Street rituals mere months later, to finally give us their new full-length “Antichrist Supremacy Violations”. Here, the band refined the War-Crust style they created on Unholy Emperor, using a combination of songwriting variety, new stylistic influences, and a production that although cleaner, keeps a lot of the bass-heavy filth associated with war metal. The band has gotten more varied in executing their crust-influenced approach to war metal, adding thrash metal elements from the war metal progenitors Sarcófago and Sodom, and arguably including a few more elements of death metal and D-Beat, as well as in certain songs, using manic tempo changes for noisy effect. One song in particular, “The Goats Of Hell”, also shows the new influences Hanzaisha picked up from the old days of death metal (in particular Incantation and Napalm Death), as the overall vibe of the track is heavier, denser, and slower-paced compared to the other songs. The production is also worth noting; whereas Unholy Emperor used a production style that was bass-heavy in a similar way to bands like Archgoat and Blasphemy, the album goes for a more manic and violent-sounding storm of sonic chaos. Although the individual elements in the songs like guitar, drums, and vocals are heard much more clearly, the piercing power is not abandoned, resulting in a violent, and arguably more intense sound for the band’s standards. Antichrist Supremacy Violations is not only just a simple mixture of war metal and crust punk from an East Asian scene; it is a celebration of the unique chaotic approaches of both genres in general. Hanzaisha once again decided to violently swing their nuclear weapons in a fashion that would help set in motion the roots of war metal for the modern Japanese extreme metal scene. As the submissive hobos of Jesus destroy the West, the east is saved by the presence of Satan’s might and power, protecting them from any kind of religious attack.
