It is often regarded as the large west-southwest shoulder of the neighboring Monte Bar. Geographical location and description Caval Drossa is located on the ridge between Val Colla and Val d'Isone and marks the western end of the chain that also includes Gazzirola and Monte Bar. The summit offers a magnificent 360-degree panorama of Lake Lugano and the surrounding Alpine chain. Hiking and activities The region around Caval Drossa is a popular destination for hikers, mountain bikers, and, in winter, snowshoe tours. There are numerous well-marked hiking trails that lead to and across the summit. Popular routes: A common hike leads from the village of Corticiasca (or Bidogno) via Capanna Monte Bar to Caval Drossa and on to Motto della Croce. Difficulty: Most tours are considered challenging and require good basic fitness, sure-footedness, and sturdy footwear. They are often classified as T3 (challenging mountain hiking). Capanna Monte Bar The Capanna Monte Bar mountain hut (at 1,600 m above sea level) is located near Caval Drossa and often serves as a starting point or stopover for hikes in the region.
