Bhagat Kabir Ji was a devoted spiritual poet who lived in Uttar Pradesh, India. He was a Bhagat (lover) of the Advait (Non-Dual) Akaal Purakh (Timeless Being) In Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee, there are 227 Padas (verses) in 17 ragas and 237 slokas (couplets) attributed to Bhagat Kabir Ji. Born into a Muslim family, Kabir Ji is revered by Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs. He played the role of a teacher and social reformer through his writings, rejecting blind ritualism, murti pooja, and the caste system. The Kabirpanthi sect follows his teachings and considers him their guru. Some historians differ on the exact dates of Kabir's life, with some suggesting 1398–1448, while others lean towards 1440–1518. This compilation of saloks at the end of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee has 243 Saloks of Bhagat Jee. His life and teachings faced opposition from both Hindus and Muslims.
