Aeron opens worship with having us declare the power of freedom using our own words to shift the atmosphere! Later he has the word of the Lord, telling us “...do not permit the voices of negativity...of your enemy. My voice sounds like peace…explodes with hope…is encouraging…” And more! Prophetic worship also pours out of Cheree Rudametkin along with tears and gratitude…”…Jesus, You call my name. I hear Your voice in the mundane…” Spirit to spirit will tug at your heart… The spoken word continues in the prophetic flow with Kathy Claxton, Ed Alt, and Diane Hunter. Don Wheeler launches into a new series on Practical Evangelism that he and Brandon Coon will share. He says Jesus commissioned us for ONE thing, and that is to seek and save the lost. He shows a funny video to underscore a problem with the Church… If you want to skin griz, you are going to have to go out where the griz are! Don, in his humorous way, outlines the practical, non-threatening things we can do. It’s not about our calling, nor our gifting, because evangelism is not a gift. We are already equipped and evangelism is actually about equipping others as we make disciples of them. Jesus didn’t call us to go out and get converts, to change their title from non-christian to Christian. He told us to go out and love people, and HE would change their hearts. We are called to be fishers of men and the first thing you have to do is go where the fish are! You could go fish in the pool in your backyard because there is water there…that’s like going to church and going fishing! We have to go where the fish are swimming and where they are comfortable. Don shares one funny way of how he hooked a bass by irritating it, which may not always work… We want to let people know that God SEES them. The goal isn’t for them to say the sinner's prayer. The goal is for somebody to feel that they are loved. Paul was compelled to go because he experienced the love of God. Listen to where people place their hope and then talk to them so you can know them. It’s very practical. It’s the Holy Spirit’s job to save them. Mine is to love them and then He will convict them as we create an atmosphere of love where He can do His job. But, if they are feeling judged, or condemned then they will draw back and the Holy Spirit finds a hard heart. What softens their heart is your love. Don cites an excellent book: Rich Nathan's, WHO IS MY ENEMY? that you may want to read. He asks the question, do you love people enough to learn their language? Find out the way they think, put your own prejudice aside and be relatable. Evaluate and ask would Jesus go there? We CAN make a difference so let’s go fishing!
