RCE is a syndrome of the eye, where a portion of the epithelium (the topmost layer of "skin" over the cornea) spontaneously pulls away or is damaged. This usually happens when the affected person is asleep, and the eyelid becomes slightly stuck to the epithelium. An RCE episode is often very painful, but usually subsides in a few hours to a day. Sometimes it affects the vision of the sufferer during this period (it depends upon the position of the tear). I unfortunately suffer from this syndrome. In this video I explain RCE syndrome, and give a few tips that have worked for me with respect to prevention and pain management. This is not medical advice -- I'm just sharing what has worked for me. Be sure and visit your opthomologist if you have symptoms similar to what I describe here.
