We're NOT ready For AFRICA yet | The Reality of Family Overland Travel

This week we’re in Fuengirola, Spain, the town where Pete picked up his used Land Rover — and where the adventure really starts to feel real. With Morocco and North Africa next on the list, the truck had to be ready. That meant days of cleaning, wrenching, problem-solving, and more than a few unexpected trips back to the shop. Like any older vehicle, fixing one thing revealed another… but that’s all part of the process. Between storms, leaks, oil changes, and interior repairs, Pete slowly brought his Land Rover back to life — with the rest of us helping where we could. And while the truck was in the shop, we took the time to explore Fuengirola, walking the Mediterranean shoreline and visiting its ancient castle. Eventually, the work was done — at least enough to roll. And with that, we left Fuengirola and headed south toward Gibraltar, giving the Land Rover its first real test on the highway.
