Perpetua Origin - This Ugly Lovecraftian Goddess Is Mother Of Most Powerful Cosmic Entities of DC

“What is the reason for our existence?” Now that is a question that has been debated since the times of Socrates, and we’re STILL not on the same page as a species as to what the right answer is. Of course, scientists tell us that the universe began with a literal Big Bang that occurred billions of years ago and populated the vast emptiness of space with what we call galaxies. On some of the planets in this universe, under the “right conditions”, sentient life forms developed through the course of their maturity; the prime example being Planet Earth from the Sol system. Priests tell an entirely different tale; one where all life has been created by one (or several) divine figure whose “benevolence” is what gave us our spirits and souls. DC Comics took the smart route out and merged these two mainstream explanations into a long-standing mystery that confused their fan base and their characters for decades; chief amongst them being Krona the Maltusian, who dared to peer at the creation of the Multiverse and was banished for it. Finally, after what felt like 5 lifetimes thanks to DC’s trigger-happy approach to rebooting their continuity, we got the answer to that elusive mystery in the form of Perpetua; the Mother of the Multiverse, and the beginning and end of all life in it.
